Ozzie Smith, known throughout baseball as "The Wizard," is widely regarded as one of the best fielding shortstops of all time, redefining the position in his nearly two decades of work at one of the game's most demanding positions. Always a base-stealing threat who would later turn himself into an above-average hitter, the fleet-footed and acrobatic Smith used his glove and athletic skill to make plays for the San Diego Padres and St. Louis Cardinals that often left those watching in true amazement. Elected to the Baseball Hall of Fame in 2002, Smith won 13 Gold Glove awards, was named to 15 All-Star teams, collected 2,460 hits, and stole 580 bases.
This home white St. Louis Cardinals jersey was worn by Ozzie Smith during the 1995 baseball season. Tagged on the inside of the tail with a Rawlings wash tag, a size 42 flag tag, a 1" shorter flag tag and a "Set 1 1995" flag tag. This jersey has a custom hemmed straight tail and exhibits moderate evidence of game use (wash wear, some staining). Most importantly, this jersey was originally purchased directly from Ozzie Smith's 643 Marketing Company. It comes with a letter of authenticity on their letterhead signed by Ozzie himself.
