2007 Edwin Jackson Los Angeles Dodgers Game Worn Home Jersey (Steiner)

Jackson was drafted by the Dodgers in the 6th round of the 2001 MLB entry draft out of Shaw High School in Columbus. He was originally drafted as an outfielder but was quickly converted into a pitcher by the Dodgers. There was a time when Jackson was regarded as one of the premiere pitching prospects in baseball (after posting sub-4.00 ERAs in AA and the majors at age 19 in 2003). He has a bright future on that young Tampa Bay Devil Rays pitching roster.
This home white Los Angeles Dodgers jersey was worn by Edwin Jackson during the 2007 baseball season. Tagged on the tail with a Majestic tag, a size 48 flag tag, a "set 1 2007" flag tag and a paper fiber "Property of Los Angeles Dodgers 2007" tag. There is a velcro closure between the second and third buttons, behind the Dodgers logo. This jersey exhibits very light evidence of game use. This jersey comes with documentation from Steiner Sports.

How can this jersey be attributed to Edwin Jackson? Jackson has pitched the past 2 seasons for Tampa Bay. I don't believe he has been with the Dodgers since 2005 yet the LA jersey is tagged 2007. Could there be another player by the name of Jackson who played this year for the Dodgers? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

edwin jackson ceased playing for the dodgers in 2005. on jan 14, 2006 he was traded to tampa bay. 2006 and 2007 saw him play for tampa bay.
edwin jackson has never worn #3 in his career.

in 2007, #3 was worn on the dodgers by hitting coach bill mueller. mueller joined the dodgers as hitting coach on june 15 and stayed through to the end of the season.

on the 2007 dodgers roster there was no player or coach with the last name "jackson".

this jersey is a complete mystery to me.

the dodgers invited damian jackson to 2007 spring training and subsequently released him on march 12, 2007, prior to the start of the regular season.

as photos show, he did indeed wear #3. mystery solved.

I was going to post before Rudy did with a thank you for recognizing the error but was on a call until now. I have already put a call in to Steiner to confirm the likely error in the LOA. Although the LOA mistakenly listed this as Edwin Jackson, we should have caught it in the write-up.

As a result, we will pull the item to avoid any confusion (this will be done shortly).

As a follow-up to my previous post, I wanted everyone to know we have pulled the Damian Jackson jersey from the current auction. I spoke to our contact at Steiner and explained Jackson was released prior to the start of the season and that it was likely a spring training jersey. They were very appreciative of having the information as they are told by the teams that all the items they receive are, indeed, used in major league games. It appears the nature of use regarding this jersey may not have been fully understood.

Overall, I think this shows the value of the model we have created and how the dissemination of information can help everyone on the collecting side of the hobby. Once again, our contact at Steiner asked me to forward his thanks to those participating on this thread. I also want to express our thanks to everyone for helping make sure the information being offered on all items in our auction is accurate.
