Late 1940's/Early 1940's New York Yankees Game Used Cap (#7 Under Brim)

Circa late 1940's/early 1950's cap has all the characteristics of a team issued, game worn cap. The smaller "NY" logo, the beige colored headband, and the McAuliffe tag are all characteristics of a late 1940's to early 1950's Yankees pro model cap. Photographs of the 1951 cap, however, show a larger "NY" logo. Size 7 ¼ flag tag inside leather band (size also printed on leather band), McAuliffe tag sew onto leather band. #7 hand-written under brim of the cap. This cap exhibits moderate evidence of game use, including some cracking to the inside leather band. We are unable to determine the vintage of the #7 numeral added to the underside of the bill. A letter of opinion from noted vintage equipment expert Darrell O'Mary is included with this lot.
