Russell Martin Game Used Dodgers Batting Helmet (Steiner LOA)

Martin was drafted by the Dodgers in 2002 in the 17th round, 511th overall. Martin was originally a third baseman before switching to catcher after a scout saw him playing for the Gulf Coast Dodgers in Rookie Ball and thought he showed more promise in that position. He was rated the best high school catcher in North America in the April 2002 Sporting News. Martin has excelled since taking over the starting catcher's job for the Dodgers. He not only is a good hitter for average, but is fast enough to steal bases, a rarity for a catcher. On defense, he has been widely praised for his direction of games and handling of the pitching staff.
This Los Angeles Dodgers air-flow style batting helmet was worn by Russell Martin during the 2007 baseball season. Large #55 decal on the back of the helmet, above the MLB logo decal. "LA" team decal on the front. This helmet exhibits good evidence of game use in the form of some dried pine tar on the side, several scrapes and scratches on the outside, stress marks on the top of the dome of the helmet and extensive wear to the inside padding. There is also a minor crack on the side where the brim meets the dome of the helmet. Comes with documentation from Steiner Sports. View Lot Detail page
