On December 7, 2006, Josh Hamilton was selected in the Rule V draft by the Chicago Cubs from the Tampa bay Devil Rays and then traded for cash to the Cincinnati Reds. He made his Major League debut with the Reds on April 2, 2007. Hamilton hit .292 with 19 HR in 298 AB for the 2007 Reds, for an impressive comeback. He missed time with an inflamed digestive tract and a sprained wrist. Hamilton's offensive statistics suffered greatly from a lack of offensive support around him in the lineup and finished the year with only 47 RBIs, despite hitting 19 home runs.
After the season, the Reds traded him to the Texas Rangers. He became an immediate stand-out with Texas, leading the American League in the three triple crown categories during the first months of the 2008 season. At the All-Star break, Hamilton already had 21 homeruns and led the AL with 95 RBI, leading the AL by a whopping 25 RBI. He finished the year with a .304 batting average with 32 home runs and 130 RBIs.
This home white Cincinnati Reds jersey was worn by Josh Hamilton during the 2007 season. Jersey has the MLB hologram affixed inside the collar (hologram number BB 574147). Tagged on the tail with a Majestic tag and a size 50 flag tag. This jersey is also tagged on the inside with a "6200" coded wash tag, which is most commonly found on retail jerseys. Jerseys do come up from time to time that are issued to (or ordered by) pros and game worn, but carry the retail code (this one being backed by the MLB hologram which clearly states the jersey was last worn on 8/21/07 when the Reds played the Braves). Jersey exhibits good evidence of game use, including some staining on the front of the jersey. Hamilton signed and inscribed the back number of this jersey in black (with a G.W. 2007 inscription).View Lot Detail page
