Rickey Henderson is baseball's all-time leader in stolen bases with 1406 and runs scored with 2295. He also holds the single-season record for stolen bases with 130. In a 25-year career with nine clubs, Henderson's high on-base percentage, power, runs scored, and stolen base totals made him the premier leadoff hitter of his era; many consider him the best ever. Measuring 33 7/8 inches in length and weighing approximately 31 ounces, this bat shows evidence of moderate –to-heavy game use prior to the handle crack this bat eventually sustained. Ball marks, hit marks, and rack marks (scratches) are evidenced on the barrel. A tape application extends approximately 9 inches from the knob and shows significant wear. This bat has sustained a crack on the handle that is approximately 9 inches long with the most severe area approximately 13 inches from the knob. There is displacement of the wood which has been secured with a second tape application. Rickey Henderson's uniform number, 24, appears on both the knob (silver) and cupped barrel end (black) of this bat. Additionally, Rickey has signed this bat in silver marker, adding the notation "Game Used 1999." The signature is on the sweet spot, and is clear and unhurried, The signature has been authenticated by Autograph Certification Experts (ACE) and bears hologram A10019. ASI hologram 12990 also appears on this bat.
