Greg Maddux Circa 1996 Atlanta Braves Worn Warm-Up Jacket

Greg Maddux is a lock HOF pitcher who is currently pitching for the Los Angeles Dodgers. He was the first pitcher in Major League history to win the Cy Young Award for four consecutive years (1992-1995), during which he had a 75-29 record with a 1.98 ERA while allowing less than one runner per inning. Maddux is the only pitcher in MLB history to win at least 15 games in 17 consecutive seasons. In addition, he has been awarded a record seventeen Gold Gloves. A superb control pitcher, Maddux won more games during the 1990s than any other pitcher, and is currently tied with Roger Clemens for 8th place on the career wins list, with 354. Maddux and Clemens are also tied for second, behind Warren Spahn, for career wins among pitchers whose entire careers were in the post-1920 live-ball era.
Maddux has won 20 games twice, in 1992 and 1993. However, he has won 19 games five times (including the 1995 season which was reduced to 144 games from the strike of 1994), 18 games twice, and 16 in the strike shortened 1994 season (which was reduced to 115 games). He won four ERA titles (in 1993-1995 and 1998), and led the NL in shutouts five times. He holds the major league record for seasons leading his league in games started (7). He also holds the record for most seasons finishing in the top 10 in the league in wins (18).
In 1999, Maddux ranked 39th on The Sporting News' list of the 100 Greatest Baseball Players, the highest-ranking pitcher then active. He was also nominated as a finalist for the Major League Baseball All-Century Team.
This red and blue Starter jacket was worn by future Hall of Famer Greg Maddux circa 1996, as a member of the Atlanta Braves. Several Getty images depict Maddux wearing this exact style jacket in 1996 (in the dugout). This jacket is a size large, and has Maddux's #31 hand-written in black above the Starter tag in the collar. The jacket exhibits some evidence of wash wear.View Lot Detail page

What type of documentation or providence comes with this jacket to prove it was actually worn by Maddux? Is a magic-marker 31 next to the inside tags it?

      Hello Jimmie,

Regarding the jacket, there is no further documentation. However, along with the hand-written 31 above the starter tag in the collar, the size matches up to known Cubs jacket exemplars and the jacket has been photo style matched. In fact, I think the description states the following, "Several Getty images depict Maddux wearing this exact style jacket in 1996 (in the dugout)."

Please feel free to let me know if that answers your question.
