Game Used Football from John Elway's last Super Bowl - Super Bowl XXXIII (LOA From James H. Steeg on NFL Letterhead)

Super Bowl XXXIII, played at Pro Player Stadium in Miami, Florida, featured the reigning Super Bowl champion Denver Broncos pitted against the NFC champion Atlanta Falcons. The Broncos jumped out to a 17-6 halftime lead and went on to win 34–19.

At 38 years of age, Denver quarterback John Elway became the oldest player ever to be named Super Bowl MVP. He completed 18 of 29 passes for 336 yards and one touchdown, and also scored a 3-yard rushing touchdown. Elway retired on May 2 before the following season. It was a storybook ending to a storybook career.

This football was used in Super Bowl XXXIII as attested to in an LOA from James Steeg, NFL's Vice President of Special Events. The letter, written on NFL letterhead, states:

This letter certifies that the accompanying football was used during Super Bowl XXXIII on January 31, 1999, between the Atlanta Falcons and Denver Broncos. Pro Player Stadium was the site for the Broncos second Super Bowl victory in as many years by the score of 34-19. Quarterback John Elway of the Denver Broncos was named "Super Bowl XXXIII's Most Valuable Player" in what may have been his final game of an illustrious career".

Is there much use on this ball? I can't really tell from the pictures - trying to get a feel if it looks like it was used for a play or two or more like a series or two.

Hello Tom,

I would personally have to say that I don't think there is much use on the ball. Also, I'm not sure if you have used it or not but you may also want to use the "Enlarge Image" feature button on the items description page to get very high resolution images of the ball. We post high resolution images so potential bidders can get a pretty good feel of exactly what the item looks like.

Btw, as a side note, the ball was sourced from someone who has associations with the NFL so that fact, along with the LOA, made us feel pretty good about the item's legitimacy.
