Oliver Perez 2007 Home New York Mets Game Worn Jersey (Steiner/MLB)

Oliver Perez is a left-handed starting pitcher for the New York Mets. He began his career with the San Diego Padres in 2002 and was later traded to the Pirates, then to the Mets.

During the last two seasons, Oliver Perez has shown signs of greatness as he has solidified his spot on the Mets starting rotation. In 2006 after the Mets lost two starting pitchers to injury in the final week before the playoffs started, they were forced to use Pérez in the playoff rotation. His first playoff start came in Game 4 of the NLCS, in which he picked up his first career postseason win. His second playoff start came in Game 7 of the 2006 NLCS vs. the Cardinals, he went 6 strong innings allowing 1 ER. The start of the 2007 was promising for Perez. He ended the season with a 10-7 record with a 4.22 ERA. Almost averaging a strike out per inning pitched.
