This 1970's Vikings practice jersey was worn by DT Doug Sutherland. The jersey is made of warp eyelet mesh material. Sewn on the left front tail are the Sandknit exclusive and size tags. The player #69 is screened on front, back and both sleeve in purple. On back above the number "SUTHERLAND" has been screened directly on the jersey in purple letters. Vikings jerseys from the era normally have the letters made of tackle twill that are sewn to a plate. After some research on this it seems that this jersey, along with others, were made up for the Vikings linemen for use in warmer weather games. They were supposed to be lighter with the lack of nameplates and double shoulder yokes. However, the powers to be with the Vikings (Bud Grant) didn't like the look of the screened on names and relegated these jerseys to the practice field. Although this is a fully tagged jersey it is not believed to have ever appeared in an NFL game.View Lot Detail page
