Why the 50 percent increase on this auction?

15 percent may be among the lowest buyer's rate in this business, as you state, but to add another 15 percent onto a bid, I assume at both ends, is still ridiculous.

I guess I will continue to shop eBay.

Is it 15%? I havent looked at it, nor was I planning on bidding on anything. If it is 15%, I think thats pretty standard for auction houses. The beauty of it is, you dont have to bid on them.

Rape is something forced and you are not forced to bid. Most intellectual people incorporate the fee into their bids. A calculator might help.

I use the term because it has disgusting ramifications, as does the exorbitant fee charged to give someone your money.

It is amusing that no other person is questioning the 50 percent increase. Where are the owners of this site? Why do they not explain the 50 percent increase in just the second auction?

Was there a big increase in the production costs for this auction?

That is so true to all of you whose mentality is that "I don't have to bid". I'll spend my money on items that are not over inflated due to a fee.

Enjoy your ability to afford less for the actual item you may want, due to the 50 percent increase that you have to figure in.

I personally don't see the reason for this other then greed.

Based on the increased advertising and also a fantastic multi-page catalog insert in the most recent edition of SCD, it appears the bump in the consignment fee may be a direct result of the increased advertising/marketing budget.

Chris Cavalier also noted that a new selling platform will be introduced, and one can assume this type of upgrade is extremely expensive.

sammy- I do understand your comments. But when you compare Ebay that has millions of individual auctions, to a GUU auction that happens once a year, theres really no comparing. As much as people may not believe, Ebay does infact make a great deal of money on their auctions. GUU does this once a year on some pretty pricey and higher quality items. Do I feel paying a 15% buyers fee when Im already buying the item, maybe uncalled for? Perhaps, but Im not too worried about that anyways because I wasnt planning on bidding on any of these items. And I especially wouldnt if I did not like their policy. Not to mention people have already bid on items that end in another month

The cost for you as a buyer's premium if you win something - 15%

The projected loss to the site for you to take your business and your whining elsewhere - $0

Looks like a win-win for all of us.

I'm so tired of people coming here and taking advantage of all of the wonderful FREE information that is put forth on a daily basis and then whining when the "for sale" forum is taken down, or a buyer's premium rises a paltry 5%. If you dont like it, dont come here.
