The back is very thin (less than 1/4 inch) cabinet board (oak) stains very well ,as all hardwoods. Case is all oak for best stain ability. This is not finished as I have to buy acrylic (Lexan Polycarbonate) instead of glass (lighter and cheaper and easier to cut at home, and then make a frame for the front similar to the look with the Dykstra display. Bad lighting and even worse camera but here is the unfinished product( Notice the vertical oak supports (3) playing against the horizontal bat holder all oak. Support screws will be stained, and of course the 2x3 on the bottom of the case unfinished still weighs a ton thanks to size and oak.

Your case is very nice. I just got mine up last night. I had to go out and spend another $4.97 to re-felt the back. I tried to skrew though it then in snagged and the rest was history. I actually like it better now because the mounting screws are hidden under the felt. I probably went over kill with this case because I panelled all four sides but you can't see the top or bottom.

        What do you think?
