Re: Show Me your NFL stuff
Big thanks to fellow board member John Giles for this one
Jimmie Giles game worn away jersey.
Although the jersey wasn't dated as to game use I was able to narrow it down to most likely having been used during the 1979 season based on the thick orange outline on the shoulder numerals and the fact that I was also able to find an undated video clip of Jimmie catching a TD pass against the Giants where immediately afterwards he is surrounded by Darryl Carpenter and Tony Davis whose only year together on the Bucs was 1979. The jersey he was wearing in the clip also had the same type of shoulder numerals as well as the numerals on the left shoulder being pressed more to the back of the jersey rather than right on top of the shoulder......the same as the jersey pictured here.
It can't be definitively matched to that particular game without better footage, of course, but I think 1979 is at least the correct year for this one. It has 4 team repairs, some cracking of the front numbers and some staining but otherwise it's in great shape.

Great vintage Bucs gamer...I just examined a Ricky Bell Bucs road from a couple of years later...it was game-issued but was autographed by Bell.

Re: Show Me your NFL stuff
I have one of his final (1981) season home jerseys but always wanted an away. Unfortunately, his stuff isn't worth a whole lot because nobody seems to remember him. We, here in Tampa remember him well.Comment

Your welcome 34swtns! It was tough to let go, but I'm glad it has a good home. Just so you know, the funds helped me aquire a "grail" jersey for me and I will post it soon. A 1997 Hines Ward UGA gamer!!!
Oh! I almost forgot to ask, did you meet Jimmie????Comment

John, glad you finally got your Ward, that's an amazing score.
I'll probably meet Jimmie on Friday now. I'll post pics as soon as it happens. His health is not good and he's day-to-day as far as his availability goes.Comment

Thanks Dave, I just shot them an email.
What was your opinion of the jersey if you don't mind my asking?

Re: Show Me your NFL stuff
Based on the photos he sent I'm inclined to agree with your assessment.
He came down on the price in accordance with it only being issued and not worn. Enough so that I made the purchase.
Once again, thanks for the heads-up.Comment

Re: Show Me your NFL stuff
Lifelong Bengals fan and just picked up my first gamer. A 2003 Carson Palmer rookie season away white jersey (hard to photomatch, but have similar stripes in attached pic, but angles make it hard) so it was either worn during a pre-season game or during the regular season holding a clipboard while Jon Kitna took every snap of the season. Has Bengals Team Shop price tag still attached and original purchase receipt. Hopefully he continues to improve with the Raiders!Comment

Update on the previously posted Jimmie Giles 1979 jersey:
Got to meet Jimmie and his lovely wife, Vivian today. He was thrilled to see his old game jersey and is looking forward to being inducted into the Buccaneers' Ring of Honor in December.
