Jeremy, I wasn't so much looking for somebody to provide a picture as I was asking for assistance with the one I provided. I actually did my homework prior to the post but do not have the photo software to enhance the photo. With that said, any help you can provide would be great. Regarding the jumping the gun comment, if you would like to have the discussion off line I will tell you specifically what I am talking about on the beat down issue. It was not me but it sure got a lot of press. I assure you nobody waited 24 hours to jump in on that particular issue..

So it's easier to jump in on a beat down thread than it is a photomatch thread. Of course it is.. it's simple logic, one requires a couple of minutes to type up a response while the other can take numerous hours of digging through photos.. hmmm, which one will happen first? I've never posted in a "beat down" thread but I can guess photomatching would happen last.

I do think you jumped the gun on expecting folks to research photos for free and expecting a response in 24hrs. Sometimes it happens that quick but in this case, Griffey gloves are tough to match. It's not always an easy thing to do, give it time.

On that note I've been slowly checking through some Griffey cards/magazines/books. Still have to go through numerous photos from the Pacific Trading Cards media archives I picked up years ago, most pictures show him batting though.

Well said sean. My point is some people are much quicker on the beat down button than they are on the assist button. There are a lot of good folks on this site that will jump at the chance of helping somebody. I wish there were more of them out there... A friend of mine was beat senseless on this site over a transaction that did not go well. People were quick to judge and advise but those same people go into hiding when it comes to asissting somebody.

thome25, I`d have to agree with you on the beat down. I`m all for people having an Opinion, even if they disagree. Personally, I know there are EXPERTS on here at Photomatching etc...I`ve asked for help several times, including recently & have normally got NOTHING. This is after asking POLITELY & DOING MY HOMEWORK...ie trying to help myself before I ask. Do I EXPECT IT??? no, that`s not what I`m saying. What I will say is there`s clicks on here that simpy help one another & don`t seem to wanna step out of the safety of their little Click & help someone. If you find this offensive, maybe your one of them??? I see it happen to newer guys all the time, including smartazz answers.

The Spirit of this Forum is about helping one another. I feel I`ve helped when I can & would like to see others get the help they need. Most of us will disagree at times, have strong opinions, fine. When you make it personal, attach name Calling, THEN IT`S GETTING UGLY. Stand up to some of the guys on here, your done!!! I really don`t care, Intimidation is NOT part of my world, in Person, or Online. I don`t do it, & I don`t Tolerate it.

A few differences between this glove and my glove. First you can see the difference in the script "Griffey". My glove has the older style script. Next and most importantly the glove in the display case is most likely an UDA store version. I say this because if you notice, the "trap-eeze logo is upside down on the web of the glove. This is one of the most common signs of a UDA glove. Another forum member, Steve B. sent me a great article on Griffey gloves including the version that was distributed by UDA as a game model.. Thanks for the input, and follow up.

griffey has been using the same TB-24 model since the dawn of time. it's long been available as a "pro" retail version from rawlings. i'm unsure if any retailer/upper deck ever offered a "collectable" version with griffey's name stitched in. here's an upperdeck retail version of gwynn's glove:

Hey thome25 I found something very interesting. I want to the autograph show today and I think I found that exact same glove new with tags. I tookk pictures with my phone but cant upload them to my Computer. But when I get it I will post the pics

i took one look at that photo and knew nothing could be done. maybe next time i'll post something to that effect. i don't have access to military or law enforcement grade image software so i don't know what those guys can do. maybe it's up there with people's perceptions of what they see in the movies where someone takes a photo from 3 miles away and they zoom in on a sweat bead trickling down the guys forehead. i use photoshop which is the most powerful retail grade image-editing software available.

a .jpg or a .gif is a compressed format which means that the image has been compressed for purpose of keeping the file size small. the trade-off for the small file size is image quality loss. the image can't truly be re-sized without substantial loss in quality. if you're looking for an image to be blown up, it's best to do it with an uncompressed format such as a .psd or .bmp. the file sizes are larger but in return you're able to re-size images without such a noticeable degradation in quality as with .jpgs. in short, very little if anything can really be done with getty sample pics. you'd need a nice big photo in an uncompressed format.

i think most people lend a hand when others ask for help. my gripe is when people aren't asking for help per se but for someone else to do all of the work. it's not so much "does this qualify as a photomatch?" as it is "photomatch this for me". my other favorite is "is this jersey good?". (keep in mind i'm not saying this is what was done in this thread.) the people who pose these questions haven't even done a lick of work themselves. "can someone photomatch this?". does that person not have access to the same getty and mlb photos that i do? or do they simply want me to spend the 3 hours doing it while they sip on a mai tai and enjoy the free fruits of my labor? i've benefitted greatly from this forum but i've always tried to do as much work as i could myself before running into a wall and asking others. you can tell when someone's done at least some work themselves because the questions are specific; "was this patch used after 1987?", for example, or "were nob angles different between the 1992 home and alt jerseys?".

i remember one guy who kept asking "is this jersey good?" in the past and when people finally told him to do some research himself, he retorted by saying he didn't have that sort of time or patience. he basically wanted to use GUF as a free authentication and photomatching service. everytime i see a post asking others to do all the work i ignore it. that's why it may appear that some posts asking for "help" go ignored.

For those of you that did respond and or sent e-mails thank you. I know there are a lot of good people on the forum. Perhaps I let my frustration get the best of me but it is frustrating to see certain posts go untouched but when there is a neighborhood beat down people can't wait to jump in. Again, I appreciate the assistance.

Anyway, I sadly had the same result as Rob L. The original photos have already been compressed by Getty and are also a bit dark. Enlarging both of those photos as pictured cannot give the detail needed to photo match anything shown (except Griffey's face, perhaps)...

Getting the full-sized photos from Getty would be a huge help if possible. As far as forum members go, my guess is that the ones with the "know-how" took one look at the photos and knew they couldn't be enlarged and lightened nicely enough for a detailed photo match.
