I have a pair of Jimmy HArt's Wrestlemania 8 event worn pants that have WRESTLEMANIA VIII airbrushed down the sides of them

      Keep those oddball pieces coming...

Love the idea of someone reading Cobb's bible at a fan's funeral. we should all be so lucky...

I have these two interesting pieces on old Cardinals letter head from the 1940's. The first is a letter from Hall of Fame manager Billy Southworth to then Cardinals owner Sam Breadon regarding Harry "The Hat" Walker's screen test. There is a secretive tone to it, that makes me wonder if it was in code. If you can decipher it, please - let me know. Maybe I am just wierd.

The other is a near mint typed partial letter (what you see is the only verbiage on the page - but the entire page is in tact). I WISH I could have seen the entire incident that the letter speaks of. Apparently, someone thought that it was hilarious enough to keep in a drawer for 40 years until I purchased it for a few bucks. Enjoy.

Thanks, guys!!! I love these stories. I love you guys who spent hours waiting for the Jordan autograph. And the Cardinals letter about the soda on the "trousers" was classic.

I've been known to go nuts for autographs. I went to a jewelry store barbeque to meet SF Giants baseball players (This was at Phoenix Spring Training). I was 50 at the time.

I went nuts when the ballplayers showed up, especially an older black man with a colorful casual shirt. It had to be a ball player. "Excuse me," would you please sign my baseball?" I asked.

You don't even know who I am, do you?" he replied. I stared at him as a rifled through my mental Rolodex. "Let's see...50-ish black man. Had to be somebody," I thought. "Orlando Cepeda? No. He's Spanish, I think." But I answered the only way I new how. "No, I don't know who you are."

"I'm Vida Blue," he said, and signed the baseball. I still have it as one of my most embarassing collecting encounters.
