Picked up a personal holy grail item, a 1949 Minneapolis Millers road uniform worn by Otey Clark. Otey lived in the same Northern Minnesota city as I did and was the first pro ballplayer I ever met.
Wanted: Minnesota Twins throwback or special event jerseys.
I think I recognize that 2001 Aaron Boone jersey. You have that Boone collection going nicely, congrats! I was watching that 99 Boone on ebay and really wanted it, but that price just kept going up for my current spending time.
Every year I volunteer at Violet Ripken's (Cal's mother) charity Golf Tourney and for the past few year's B.J. Surhoff would donate a game used item (usually a bat) for their Silent Auction, but this year he must have dug deep in his closet because he donated a beautiful 2000 Game Used road top, just dripping with wear. I paid more than I wanted to for it, but the money went to a good cause and you see relatively very few legit Surhoff Orioles jerseys out there...
picked this up at the rangers game the other night. buck showalter g/u jersey. not sure if it's considered g/u since he was the manager. i primarily got the jersey because it had the johnny oates memorial patch.
Steiner and MLB Holo'ed 2008 Mike Lowell bat. Heavy tar, great seam marks and leather transfers.
Broken versus Roy Halladay earlier this year at Fenway. I repaired this and it came out pretty solid and swingable, though you can still see the crack. I am considering selling on eBay soon...
let me know if you ever want to sell the hamilton bat. great bat. i have been looking for one of those but the ones at the games haven't met my standards. great bat.
That is an awesome helmet Jim. You do not say what team, but I am assuming it is Nebraska. The helmet looks orange in the photos. I bought a similar RT helmet a couple years ago. No idea what team it is. It is a darker gold with a Kelly green center stripe. It has the same numbers on the rear of the helmet which were factory applied at Riddell. Beautiful helmets.
Yes, my helmet appears to be a circa 1953-56 Nebraska helmet. The helmet also came with a pair of gold pants that also matches the color and style of football pants worn by the Cornhuskers from the same era.
When I first saw the helmet, what caught my eye were the numbers on the back so I took a gamble and won it on eBay. After I got the helmet, it was just a matter of doing the research.
Thanks to Robert (Aeneas01), the Helmet Hut and Mark Hayne. They all provided invaluable information.
If you haven't visited the Helmet Hut, check it out. They have helmet scans of all of the major colleges, NFL and WFL. Also, check out the Dr. Rye section. After all that, if you can't determine what team may have worn your helmet, just ask Dr. Rye.
