What is your favorite addition to your collection in 2008?
Re: What is your favorite addition to your collection in 2008?
I think it's gotta be my 06 Mike Mussina Uniform I picked up. Moose is my favorite player and to get this was amazing! Even more wonderful was the jersey had been photo matched to having be used on June 25th 06, the game where Moose got his 2500 K! It's become a family treasure (my Mom and I are huge Moose fans) and the jersey is currently being framed.
Re: What is your favorite addition to your collection in 2008?
I've added quite a few pieces to my collection this year that I am quite fond of but my Prince Fielder Game Worn and Autographed Uniform worn at the Rickwood Classic is my favorite.
Fairfield Works - United States Steel jersey signed by Prince with MLB hologram
Pants, belt and stirrups
Photo of Prince from the game
All gift wrapped with a COA from Authenticgamers.com.
I've followed the movement of this uniform from owner to owner via various message boards but never thought I'd see it pop up again. Fortunately, it did and at a great price!
A very close second in 2008 is Ben Revere's game used fielding glove. Revere was the Twins top pick in 2007 and he hit .374 this last year for Beloit. The glove came with a COA stating that Revere had used it from the time he was in junior high until the end of last season!

Like many others here I've added quite a few memorable pieces to the collection this year including:
1) A VINTAGE (Ford Frick) Stan Musial AUTO Ball (PSA/DNA Cert) - No pics available right now
2) A 1984 Olympic Ball - Big Mac on SS, Will Clark and Barry Larkin on Panels (JSA Cert) - No Pics Available right now
3) A VINTAGE Yogi Berra Hartland w/ Original Mask AND a 25th Ann Hartland that is AUTO'd on the back
A Pair of Vintage Hats - #1 is a 1965-1970 Angels w/ 'Halo':
A 1960's GU Yankees KM Pro (w/ '7' under the bill ???) This will be going to
Mears - supposedly from the 1968 Season (Mick's last year):
But Probably MY # 1 pick up in 2008 was Matt Holliday's ONLY GU 2007 World Series Hat and having it SIGNED and INSCRIBED by him Personally. While most Rockies players wore a different hat each of the 4 games, Matt told me personally that this was the ONLY hat he wore for ALL 4 games - also have Rockies LOA for Provenance:
Me with Matt and the Hat:
I also own Matt's 1st Professional MLB Jersey from his 1st MLB Spring Training in 2000 (he was #84) with LOA from Rockies.

OMG -
I cannot believe I forgot to list this piece with my Favorite Pick Ups of 2008... It is NOT GU, but it is a scarce piece I have wanted for my collection for almost 20 years since they were produced - kind of a 'Holy Grail' if you will...
The 1989 Bronze Casting of Nolan Ryan's pitching hand w/ Auto Ball and Auto picture...
These were around $1,200 - $1,500 new... I picked it up on auction for about $375.00
Re: What is your favorite addition to your collection in 2008?
Yanks and NDevlin -
Thanks for the info, but I can only find one post on hime about a glove.
And just so you know, I did not buy this hat under any auspices of it being a Mantle hat - only it being a Yankees Gamer from the period based on all info I have been able to find on auction sites and such referring to KM Pro and such.
I also don't have much tied up into it and I obtained the Angels hat for $25 after it had failed to sell on three other times he listed it.
Please feel free to eMail me with your concerns about him and his products - I'd love to know more. As you all know, knowledge is power in this hobby!
Re: What is your favorite addition to your collection in 2008?
NDevlin -
As of Nov he was still using the name listed earlier here.
And his feedback was no worse than others I've seen on eBay... 98.5 or 99%
Please let me know what you and Yanks are referring to though...
I have to say, he did not list the hat as a Mantle - simply as a GU Yankees (which is does appear to be) that happens to have the 7 under the bill... also he said the source he got the item from believed it to be from the 1968 season. It came from the same place apparently as the Angels Cap.
