Re: February Pick Ups!!
How wonderful! I don't think you're the only stay-at-home dad on this forum. If I recall, jays1fan might also do the same thing. How old is your son?

Re: February Pick Ups!!
After 6 years of searching, I FOUND my HOLY GRAIL! One of my all time favorite players is Sami Salo of the Vancouver Canucks. I have a nice collection of his stuff but I always wanted his IHL Detroit Vipers jersey.Problem is he played a grand total of 5 games for them. Ever. I had only ever heard of it's existance once and that was in 2002. A week ago on eBay, my baby FINALLY popped up.
So for those of you who keep looking for your rare items and you wonder "Am I ever going to find it?" Keep looking! One day I hope everyone feels the way I do about this shirt when you too find your Grail!Leave a comment:

Re: February Pick Ups!!
Thanks Les!
I am truly blessed in many ways. A beautiful wife and son. I am able to be a stay at home dad and take care of our son. A new home in Indiana with space to display my collection. God has been/is really good to me in so many ways.
I would say we all are blessed to be able to enjoy collecting what we do.Leave a comment:

Re: February Pick Ups!!
I paid for this Eric Hinske bat today from JL Authentics. I wanted to wait and not pay $80 for one of his bats. They were priced at a $100.00.
But I sold a few odds and ends that were laying around to pay for it. So it is kind of, almost like getting it for free.....
I have to reduce the pic size... will post in a minute.... have to go to other pc to crop pic....Leave a comment:

Re: February Pick Ups!!
This isn't in hand yet, in fact I just won it on ebay this morning, but was so excited about finally finding one that I wanted to go ahead and post it.

Re: February Pick Ups!!
I was fortunate enough to purchase a couple more Frank Thomas items last month and the last bat arrived today! Thanks goes out Steve Smith and another frequenter but non poster on the site. 3 bats - Kissimmee Stix, Rawlings, and a early model Hoosier. The uniform is from 2002 and authenticated by Rob Steinmatz none-the-less. I had been holding off to get a Rawlings with great use. I had also been offered Kissimmee bats, but they were always game ready...this one shows use!!!! Enjoy.Leave a comment:

Re: February Pick Ups!!
andrew lang and vintageD: thanks! if a grail is the ultimate item a collector hopes to pick up one day, then this one exceeds my grail because i never thought i'd even see a shirt like this surface, much less be able to acquire it. it's beyond a grail.
sincityson: no auction house. i haven't seen a decent jays gamer from a solid starter appear at any auction house in years. this amazing shirt was courtesy of the forum's own mike specht! seeing as how i didn't want to chance the shirt to UPS/FedEx and we both live in southern california, mike was even good enough to meet me for an in-person delivery.
it's something to think of how much this forum has helped collectors in every aspect of collecting.
