From what year would a Ozzie Smith bat be if it was Louisville Slugger H238?

Likely 1987, 1988 or 1989... though he did receive some in 1979. Knowing the length, weight and finish could help narrow it down.

Ozzie's personal H & B records document shipments of this model for his personal professional use in 1979 (34"), 1987 (32" and 35"), 1988 (33", 34" and 35"), and 1989 (34.5" and 35".) Most of the time weight was 32 oz. The labeling on the bat will let you distinguish between 1979 bats ant the 1986-89 Label period.

Be careful here though, as H238 was also an Ozzie Smith Pro Stock model, which means that many bats of that model either ordered by any team in generic (assorted lengths / assorted weights) orders or to the public through retail sales may well have Ozzie's signature on them. Good Luck . Remember, there are plenty of Oz bats around, so it is not difficult to find an Ozzie Smith game used bat that has no question marks.

Mike is correct. H238 was Ozzie's Anaconda-Kaye model, which is why you should be very careful if considering an H238.
