The Red Sox/Yankees thing is something my wife could never understand it. Wear a Red Sox cap, and a Yankee fan will have something to say. Wear a Yankees cap, and eventually a Red Sox fan will have something to say.

Basically, it's all in jest and for the most part, just good sportsmanship.
