    Re: heavily pine tarred bats

Not a lot of tar by modern day standards but old Keith could always give George Brett a run for his money in the 80's when it came to using pine tar.

        Re: heavily pine tarred bats

This is the most tar I have ever seen on an Arod bat it's sweeeet! Also have a couple nice Vladimir Guerrero bats he's always good for some Tar. Great thread!

          Hi AROD313,

Can you please contact me at Richardsona742@aol.com. I have a question I would like to ask you regarding one of your bats.

          Thanks,

          Anthony

                Re: heavily pine tarred bats

                great bats guys!
the astros clubhouse attendants use to wipe off the pine tar
before the bats got out! what the heck is the reason for that?
I wonder if any other clubhouse attendants do that? yankees?
likely not seeing the posada bats.... joe

                  Re: heavily pine tarred bats

I think it was just for Biggio bats. I heard it from Astros team personnel. He might have even done it himself. Biggio is not the friendliest for game used collectors. I think he started collecting items from his career for his family maybe 5 to 7 years ago. He sort-of frowns upon people like me. There are some items, such as my 1990 Biggio Home and 1999 Biggio Home that he really gave me a nasty look at.

Wow!?!? What is the reason for him frowning on game used collectors?
It just seems a bit odd; players should be happy that people admire them enough to collect their g/u items. What happened?

                        Leslie,

I honestly have no idea. My only theory is that he has become a collector of his own personal items in recent years. I know three other people (that purchased bats from me) that had the same experience when getting their bats signed. He usually gives off a very negative vibe and will often place a very small signature. Puzzles me, but that is how he is!

                        Thanks,

Is he like that only with game used items, or just in general? I met Bidge once when I was at what is now Chase Field in Arizona. He was nice enough to sign a ball for me, but seemed quite brusque. Is that just the way he is?
