If you're looking to verify a particular player's number, I've had some success with just emailing the team and asking them to look it up in their records.

Of course, that doesn't help when the auction for the jersey you're trying to decide whether or not to buy ends in three hours, I understand.

If the team has a website, and the site has a discussion board, you might also post a message saying, "Does anybody have a program from 1979, and can you tell me what number it says Joe Blow was wearing that year?" It has been my experience that, of the folks who generally hang around on minor league team message boards, at least one will have a program for 1979.

Are there any good resources to track down minor league uniform numbers?

Does anyone know if the yearly Baseball Register put out by The Sporting News lists uniform numbers of minor leagues players?

I know The Baseball Cube lists minor league rosters but they do not list uniform #'s.

Like many I'm sure, I have had a heck of a time tracking down this kind of info so if anyone knows of a good resource please share it.

Does anyone know where I can find info on what jersey numbers players wore in the minor leagues? Specifically I am looking for David Ortiz.
