Re: January Pickups
Salinas? That sounds like the answer. It's a cool jersey and I'd like to keep it. Being out of work, I must let the new acquisitions go first. Seems like I only can afford to keep the $50 items.Leave a comment:

Re: January Pickups
Warren, the Indians had a minor league team in Salinas, CA in in 1965 so maybe that's how it made it's way out to Cali? In any case, that's the coolest softball jersey I've ever seen! Nice pickup!
Yes, Dave. I think it is best to leave as-is. It is still a MLB Flannel with somewhat of an oddball appeal to it. Now, how did a Cleveland gamer from the early 60s end up as a softball/baseball jersey from a league team in California? My guess is that it may have been recycled twice. Maybe from Cleveland to a northern California farm club, then to a tire retailer?Leave a comment:

I think your stated instinct is the best choice.

Re: January Pickups
1963 Cleveland Indians Willie Kirkland zip-front flannel vest. Made by MacGregor, set 1, 1963 tag inside tail. Jersey has been recycled to an industrial league team (Tire Outlet of Santa Clara, CA) otherwise, all original with no restorations or number changes. Piped trim with durene inserts in both armpits. Company name on back could easily be removed. I may sell this and leave the name on back and let the buyer decide to remove it or not. Does anyone have an opinion on this issue?

Re: January Pickups
I picked up a couple of 2010 Reds Civil Rights game used jerseys and a bat from a fellow board member. #4 Brandon Phillips and #6 Drew Stubbs, who hit the game winning triple. The bat is an 09 Ryan Hanigan. I'm holding on to the Phillips, but I'm not sure if I'll be keeping the other two items.
