    Re: Which Was Your First?........

My first game used purchase was a Texas Rangers jersey from Meigray this past year. Just a common player. I was surprised you could get a gamer for less than a retail authentic at times. I love the paper work and letter's that Meigray includes. This was the bite that infected me. I've collected other sports related stuff, but nothing compares to getting something actually used in a game. Nice to know you own a little piece of history of that player and team.....

A 1997 Denver Broncos jersey of Godfrey Myles. Still have it. Got it from Jim Yackel about 5 years ago and have loved game-used ever since.

My first was a '95 Worth game used bat. It was given to the Fan Fest Charity Auction by Jim Thome. I purchased it from John Taube in '98. It came with a copy of a letter from Donald Feir. I still have it today. I have a photo match pic. I have only seen 1 other. It was cracked. I will never sell this one.

I bought my first game used item in 2002 when i was only 14. A Terry Francona cracked Reds bat and a Felipe Lopez cracked Reds bat. I now have 9 bats, 4 jerseys, a game used hat and many game used balls.

Let's see my 1st was in the back seat of a 1970 Chevy Camero oops sorry now back on topic. Lets see my 1st was a 1983 or 1984 Bob Watson Atlanta Braves home jersey I bought it from Doak(?) Ewing who was selling Braves jerseys back then. Will I guess you could say that the Camero was game used also I bought it from a former St. Louis Cardinals baseball player.

Back in 82 or 83 the National was in Chicago I picked up a Steve Deburg jersey from Hartel Sports for maybe 50 bucks. I wore that jersey all the time. For the life of me I have no idea what happened to it!! I still remember the Hartels having piles of the San Diago Padre jerseys as well, I wish I would have bought some of those, but not much cash available when your job was being a paper boy!!

My first item was a game used John Vanbiesbrouck stick that he used in the 1996 finals and handed to me after the game. I ended up getting it signed by him in New York when he became an Islander.

Mine was a Mets 1989 Darryl Strawberry Game Used bat. a few weeks later he was doing a Autograph signing and I ran over to the show and had Darryl sign it and list all his top acheivements on it.

A game used Freddy Patek jersey purchased from Dave Mediema who at the time was still writing for SCD. I remember saying to myself $85 is a lot of money for a jersey!

1972 Texas Rangers, recycled to the minors. Purchased in 1983 for $25 at card show in Springfield, Virginia.

Photo-matched to being worn by Roger Rapstein on "The Buckaroo Club with Ranger Bob".

My first game-worn item was a #21 Larry Mavety Chicago Cougars gold dureen WHA jersey with "A" , which I purchased in 1976. I paid $85 for it and was disappointed that the jersey was covered with blood stains and had a large repair that went all the way from the front hem through the team crest on the front. How times have changed....

Mine is a 1987 Orel Hershiser Road Dodgers jersey that was also worn in Spring Training of 88, with the Vero Beach anniversary patch. I got it in an auction in 1995. The jersey is special to me because 88 was the first year that I went to Spring Training, and I met Orel when he was signing autographs and posing for pictures. The next year he was impossible to get near. Something about 59 scoreless innings, Cy Young, and a World Series championship.
