Wanted to post something in a more positive note in relation to Penn State football and thought I would post some photos of a reproduction Curt Warner MaxPro Kineomatic 21 with leather interior I recently completed. Thanks to Curtis at HH, and forum members Ray, Princip, Aeneas01, John in KY and Shipp 96 for their help on the project.
I am so fascinated with this topic. So if the one of the premises of the helmet design was so that decals wouldn't have to be replaced, how did they "renew" the scratched up shell? Did they recondition the surface by re-sanding it?
mrclean08 that was one of the proclaimed benefits of clear shells, less maintainance for eq managers (you don't have to replace the decals or repaint the shells), but the reality was that the shells became so scratched up that replacing the entire helmet (MacGregor/Kelley) or just the shell (Marietta/MaxPro) was necessary.
