According to MLBtraderumors.com, Jorge will announce his retirement in the next two weeks. It looks like this bat is indeed the final one he EVER used as a major league baseball player. Pretty exciting piece to have in my collection!

what a great piece to be the centerpiece of a yankee fan collection. your story should show that there are some hidden gems out there to be had if you are willing to put in some research and happen to think about the possible historical significance (where from the teams or players perspective) that a piece may have. how many players would love to have their last MLB bat? i speculate many. how many yankee collectors would love to have a players final bat? every one them including me.

Thanks Joel. I can appreciate what you are saying. It took hours of sifting through photos to come up with it. Especially since the born on date was in May. I have always been a huge Yankee fan and a big Jorge fan. Like you said, it is quickly becoming one of the centerpieces to my collection. Not only is it absolutely hammered with use and has a ridiculous amount of tar, but the historical meaning behind it makes it all more special.
