As a gift for Christmas, I got an I-Pad and with it, I finally took a look at YouTube for the first time. While searching through Orioles/Ripken related videos, I noted an Orioles commercial that was filmed in 1990, promoting season tickets for their last year at Memorial Stadium in 1991..
To make a long story short, I noted that the first second or so of the commercial, shows Cal Ripken Jr.'s locker & nameplate in B&W. Knowing that Cal personally gave me his locker nameplate in the Orioles clubhouse after the last game of the 1990 season (minutes after Mickey Tettleton hit a walk off HR off Tom Henke of the Blue Jays), I knew that the nameplate depicted had to be the one I owned....Keep in mind, this was back in the day where players only used one locker nameplate a year (no holograms, special Opening Day, etc.).
Not knowing how to capture a screen shot of the nameplate in the video, I was helped tremendoulsy by Forum member, Jack J. who did this for me as a favor (thanks again, Jack!)..
Anyways, here is the 30 second commercial
and here is the screen shot, compared aside with the one from my collection
