Sure, the helmet was obtained direct from Steve McKinney, Peyton gave it to him directly and he wrote me a LOA.





As a bonus, below is one of the MM Signed towels that came out a few years ago, it's got Peyton's Hologram too. Framed them with his socks (yea....I know) from the 2006 AFC Champ. Game. On top is Peyton's locker room nameplate from the following Super Bowl.

This is pretty sweet! Love to see some other pics from a distance, side, front, back....This is a real gem! Congrats man! Let me know if you're ever considering selling it...

During ur impressive research, have u run across how many game worn P.M. helmets are out there?

I have yet to ever see a "photo-matched" Peyton Manning helmet.

That is not to say that legit examples are not out there.

A helmet was recently sold at Goldin Auctions.

Any idea on average, how many gamers Peyton or most starting QB's for that matter wear per season??

It varies...depending on the era, the player, the team, etc.

I suspect that Peyton wore fewer gamers earlier in his career. Now there are exclusive contracts for game worn memorabilia, so the number has likely increased.

It seems as though the PeyBack Foundation offered a number of examples from the 2004 and 2005 seasons. I haven't seen much from his other seasons with the Colts.

I'm not sure what the value would be in respects to helmet vs. jersey.

From my research, I have not yet found an example of a PeyBack Foundation jersey since the 2005 season. NFL Auction and Panini Authentic appear to be the sources of the most recent examples made available for public sale.

The Colts helmet sold in Goldin auctions went for an incredible price...I hope the buyer knew that it wasn't a Peyton Game Worn helmet?? No offense to Ken at Goldin Auctions, because they never stated that it was a Game Worn Peyton helmet...it was a Game Worn Colts helmet signed by Peyton, and the UDA COA states that as well. Correct me if I'm wrong, but that was my take on the helmet...

I agree...I have yet to see a photomatched Manning helmet. I would think the value for one of his matched helmets should be between $20-$30k...perhaps more given the right audience.

Look at the rear bumper decal...this is for a VSR-4 helmet, this decal isn't even cut in the proper outline of the Revolution bumper. There are no velcro coins inside of the helmet to hold the speakers, at least as far as I can tell. There should be two black velco coins just above the ear holes. (getty images 2859195, 1748331). I also would need to see the helmet again to see if it had the proper strips in the crown for battery and receivers. This helmet doesn't have the original chinstrap that Peyton used, but he was known for holding his "broken in" chinstraps in high regard, and rarely wanted to part with them. This helmet bumped around EBay for years...again, I am in no way implying that anyone was misleading with any descriptions. I believe the UDA description clearly states what this helmet is. I commend Ken Goldin on being able to run some of the most profitable auctions that I have seen, and I intend on consigning future items to him.

2003 Peyton Manning Indianapolis Colts Game Used and Signed Riddell Helmet (UDA)

To me, that makes it sound like a game used Peyton helmet. That being said, I agree the UDA cert spells it out that it is a colts game used helmet that Peyton signed. I hope the buyer inquired with Ken before making the bid.

That helmet did bounce around quite a bit. I always wondered why, to most it's a "grail" so alot of people did buy / sell / trade that particular piece around.

Economy driven, perhaps.....but I'd like to think any person making that 10k or the 20k Ebay listing price investment would hold onto it.

Now, just some things of note that bothered be about that helmet in auctions past. One, the "Colts" bumper as prior pointed out. The use of the helmet, without many marks on the mask was also an issue for me. Both sides of the helmet seem to have heavy marks, the facemask seems absolutely new.

While the angle of the helmet makes it look worse, if you notice the horseshoe seems to be really off alignment, using the vent holes as reference it's significantly higher on the right.

I'd never seen photos of this helmet I didn't feel were color corrected. I was always left with an impression the horseshoes and helmet stripe were slightly different shades of blue which may be most concerning.

How many helmets are used per season?

1-2 imagine. With Peyton I would think more like one since he's particular about his equipment..ie..chin guard etc

I ask this because the manning helmet used at the end of the 2003 season, playoffs was already auctioned and continues to be in possession from before the Goldin auction and after. The one in the Goldin auction also claims to be from the 2003 season. Which can def be true.
