Then there is continued use after the nails and pine tar were added. The guess is that he liked the bat and wanted to continue the use, so nails were used to fix some grain separation. But doing so with the nails in the bat was not allowed, so the tar was likely used to help disguise that fact to the umpires or the other team. I really liked the look of the bat overall, but found that individual player repair added something more to it as a back story.

2013 David Ortiz gamer. Dated 8/27/12, which was AFTER he had already been shut down for the season. I have this matched to many games in 2013 up into June.

Love the team photo. I did the same thing with my Cubs photo from a few cubs conventions, just found out its easier if you have a child with you lol. they tend to get more attention from players (which I thought was really cool) and now my little one has a great token of what its all about collecting and meeting the players and that is what it was all about in my eyes

Thank you for the compliments gang. The team photo was started last year at Redsfest, had some luck getting it hammered out over the past year. Would like to get Phillips and Bailey but may throw the towel in and get it framed after this previous Redsfest.

    Re: December pickups

Here are my pickups from Redsfest. Didnt make it Friday with the weather... Wish I had nabbed a Bruce bat that I saw. Maybe next year.

Two Todd Frazier game used bats. One was used in early September (hit 2 homers, going 3-5 against Cards on Sep 2nd, broke it on 5th) and the other was used and broken in the 1 game playoff against the Pirates.

Other bat is a Jack Hannahan. Used on Sep 1st, Aug 28th and 24th. Had a few hits with it and looks better than in the pics. Theres another huge black streak I didnt get a good shot of, makes it easy to spot.

I'd maybe consider selling or trading the playoff game Frazier. I was only intending to buy one.

Again, always looking to add Reds bats to my collection.

AWA85 Wow, that is alot of autographs, and from the big guys, too. How many Redsfests has that taken? Lines have been so long, we are lucky to get 2-3. Very nice!

2013 Ryan Hanigan Los Rojos Alternate Jersey - He notched his last hit as a Red and his last game catching his 2x No Hitter partner Homer Bailey in this jersey.
