Re: The Official SAN DIEGO PADRES GU Thread
No longer Captain Ahab. I finally found my White Whale. “Call me Ishmael.”
This style is one of the tougher to find for any Padres collector (whomever has the Dan Spillner, I'm waiting for that one to reenter the market).
1975 John Scott/Don Hahn Road. Definitely the color scheme I'd love to see the Padres return to.
Boarding Pequod, I once again hit the seas to hunt down my next conquest . . . . a 1979 Padres Road.

Re: The Official SAN DIEGO PADRES GU Thread
I remember what you've recalled here about the offseason of 1982-83. Garvey was hated by a lot of Cubs fans after he signed with the Padres...not so much because of the signing itself, but of the belief that he never seriously considered the Cubs, and used them just to drive up the price to play for a preferred SoCal ballclub.

1986 Steve Garvey with nice use.
People don't remember the hoopla over San Diego's signing of Garvey or that he was, possibly, headed to the Cubs prior to signing.
With the Grav's post career trials and tribulations, people also forget he was one of the clutch players of his era. Disappointed he and Dale Murphy never really gained HOF consideration. The Gil Hodges of his generation?
