    Re: October Pickups

Here is the recent shipment from Tropicana Field.

    Straight from the Trop!

Game used bats from Matt Moore, JP Arencibia, Richie Shaffer, Luke Maile, Daniel Nava and Asdrubal Cabrera.

I have photo matched the Shaffer, Nava and possibly the Cabrera bat. Shaffer pics are from the Sept 7th game against Detroit. Bat is MLB Authenticated to the Sept 8th game, broken in the tenth inning. This is only the second bat the Rays received from Shaffer. They just received a third bat of his from the last road trip.

He had the gear in his car to meet me before he left town. He has caught 3 no-hitters and kept his 1st no-hitter and kept the catcher's mitt from all no-hitters.

Thanks. A Hall of Fame quality haul! He's now caught 3 no-hitters in the fastest to that point in history. 1 more ties him with Jason Varitek for the catcher's record.

I picked up a 2014 Francisco Lindor Game Used Bat. This bat is cool because it is one of 2 samples that Chandler sent Lindor. He had a deal with LVS at the time but thought this bat was harder. He was planning to use it in the Futures game so the Chandler logo was removed and replaced with a LVS logo. When he arrived at the futures game he decided to use the regular LVS. This bat was with him at the futures game and was also used at Double A Akron. It comes directly from Lindor via one of his good friends and team mate. The forum is telling me that my photos are too large and I cannot resize. alexandriasenators@gmail.com

This is my favorite pick up of late, a bat with great use, clear stampings and a really nice patina.
"The Beast" played in the shadow of Ruth and Gehrig in the AL to some extent, though putting up massive numbers, especially in this 10+ year run he had with the Philadelphia A's and then in Boston. He used this bat with the Red Sox in back-to-back incredible seasons, without a ton of protection in '38 especially.
In 1938, he won MVP, hitting .349 with 50 Home Runs and 175 RBIs, winning the batting title and leading the league in RBIs. (but not in HRs?) He also led the league in each slash line category - .462 OBP/.704 Slugging %/1.166 OPS.
In 1939, he finished 2nd in the MVP voting, though playing only 124 games, batting .360, leading league with 35 Home Runs, knocked in 105 runs. He again led the league in On Base % at .464/ Slugging % .694/ OPS of 1.158.
A big thank you to my frend for connecting me on the deal and the owner for allowing me to pick up this fantastic bat.

    Ben
Another classic Ben. Previous owner knew it was going to a good home I bet.

They held a silent auction during the game for the jerseys worn that evening and I targeted the jersey of hitting coach Calvin Pickering, because he was the only person in uniform who actually was a teammate of Cal Ripken. Not to mention at size 54, this is easily the largest jersey I own.

After washing them and having Cal sign them all, it finally arrived yesterday:

Thats a great add to you wonderful collection,Bill. Always a pleasure seeing your collection grow.
