The Orioles celebrated the 20th Anniversary of Cal Ripken Jr. playing in his record breaking 2131st game on 09/01/15 vs. Tampa (they were on the road on the 6th; which was the actual date) and prior to the game, they hung the 2131 banners on the warehouse and Cal threw out the ceremonial first pitch to teammate (and current Orioles exec.) Brady Anderson.
I was able to purchase the Orioles dugout lineup card from that game at FanFest last December (I had remembered the date) & had Cal sign & inscribe it for me the other day:
Picked this up almost a year ago, but just got my 2009 Miguel Cabrera WBC bat back from PSA graded 10. Sorry for the odd sized pics....I always have trouble posting them.
Picked this up this morning. Left my huse at 4:30am and drove an hour and a half to McComb Mississippi to an Estate/Consignment sale to be first in line to purchase this jersey. Anthony "Booger" McFarland game used 1996 LSU vs Vanderbilt gold jersey. LSU has worn Gold jersys in the 1940s, in 1996 vs Vanderbilt, 1997 vs ND in the Independence Bowl, 1998 vs Florida, and in 2016 against Mississippi state, with each jersey being different.
Raul Mondesi bat photo-matched to three at bats against Jose Fernandez on August 24, 2016. In his very first at bat against Jose he hit the first pitch he saw, a 94.8 MPH fastball, to CF Marcell Ozuna for a single. That would be his first and only hit off of Jose Fernandez and is his 16th career hit. #RIPJF16. Also posted in Royals thread (#346) with more pics and info.
Picked up this Adam Wainwright complete game shutout game used jersey MLB authenticated from the Cardinals 10th Anniversary celebration game of the 2006 World Series on 16 July 2016.
With my Dad's very recent passing here, the hobby has been a welcome, small distraction for me.
Here is another bat I added from the 70's, a '76 Tony Perez Bicentennial bat with nice pine tar and Reds 580 Gift Shop tape dating to being pulled on Sept. 18th, 1976.
Ben
Sorry to hear about your dads passing. My wife has been extremely ill for the past 1.5 years and this hobby does sometimes create a needed distraction that keeps me going.
Hi Ben. So sorry to hear about your dad. My mom passed last year and it was/is tough. You realize there are very few "agenda free" people out there who care deeply for you, making it so tough when they go, particularly with life's constant milestones. My wife is expecting any day now, and it is hard sharing it without mom. Oh well. Such is life. We grow through pain. It populates us, we reflect and hopefully grow in character.
Whoa!! This is more than I expected to write. Getting preachy....
