Never easy to deal with a parents passing, my condolences Ben. I Know when my father passed away I was happy to have shared my hobby with him and will always hold the memories near to my heart.
With my Dad's very recent passing here, the hobby has been a welcome, small distraction for me.
Here is another bat I added from the 70's, a '76 Tony Perez Bicentennial bat with nice pine tar and Reds 580 Gift Shop tape dating to being pulled on Sept. 18th, 1976.
Hi Ben, I understand your loss and offer my prayers. I lost my Dad earlier this year to cancer as well. It was sudden and unexpected. Once I found out how bad he was, I went back east to see him. A couple weeks later he was gone.
He is the reason I love baseball so much to this day. In fact one of our last conversations was about how he made it to another Spring Training. We even discussed a couple games on the phone and those conversations are priceless to me now. He passed away a week before this season began.
Like you, I have taken some small solace in my GU collection more this year than ever in my life. It helped distract me and also think of him and how he felt about that particular player.

Thank you, all of you guys, it is really appreciated. And thank you as well to those that reached out to me directly as well...
My Dad was fascinated by this hobby and he would always ask me the latest developments when we talked. He thought it was great to have something like this that you loved, that was a distraction from the typical day to day challenges of life and that you could do well on also.
He worked very, very hard at his job and yet, always found time after a long day to play catch, shoot baskets, or throw batting practice to me because he knew I loved playing sports so much and it was important to me. I told someone the other day, the last scene in Field of Dreams where Ray gets to finally throw catch with his Dad? Well, I was lucky enough to have that, all the time, thru my childhood...
Another Big Red Machine pickup, a 1975 specific Pete Rose GU 10 bat, was really surprised by the level of deep seam marks on both sides of the barrel, tried to capture in photos.
Got this Omaha Storm Chasers (Royals AAA team) Raul Mondesi jersey. I have it photomatched to his first AAA home game on July 14, 2016. This photo also contains a second photomatch in his bat. I have that bat and it was authenticated to a MLB game on August 3, 2016 and I have it photomatched to 3 other MLB games. I also have this posted in the Royals thread as post #348 with more pics and info.
Not game used, but team issued, Michigan Wolverines Easton E700 hockey helmet. I've always wanted one of these, so I'm pretty excited to have it. Back in the day, the stripes were added by the team equipment manager with yellow tape. I would like to find one of those to add to my collection as well.
Picked up a Pedro Alvarez 2015 game used jersey. It is MLB authenticated to two home runs and photo matched to three other games including two more homers. One of those home runs was Pedro's last home run in his last game as a Pittsburgh Pirate
