My favorite item in my collection are these Don Mattingly 1988 home pants from Steiner.
    Great use on them.

GameBats people I have spoken close to Mariano had said he was comfortable with Jeters bat and if memory serves me correct I believe if you can find any video or photo when he was at bat I do remember there was one shot specicically you could see clearly it was a Jeter bat. Now I never said he doesn't use anyone elses bat I just said he is known to use Jeters bat.

You say his last at bat appearance he used Kevin Reese's bat which proves my question further that chances are Bulbus's is most likely a Batting Practice bat.

I do find it extremely odd of all players for a plate appearance he would use Kevin Reese, for some reason and I could be wrong but I doubt he would use his bat.

You referenced Mariano Taped handle Enrique Wilson bat???? Don't know what you meant by it, as you didn't aski or say anything more then that???

Re: What's the Best Yankee/Steiner item you have.

        Here's what I'm saying.

As told to me by Mariano Rivera

"I use a black Louisville Slugger C243, and Enrique Wilson applies the tape on the handle". A nice example can be found on John Taube's website under Classic Collectibles

All the available Rivera bats are from batting practice.

I have a cracked C243 from Rivera with his uniform #42 written in gold on the knob. It was used during BP - signed "Game Used". I have seen a few examples with Enrique Wilson's name written on the knob. These were used by Enrique.

In an attempt to purchase a true Mariano game used bat, I spoke with Bob Malandro (Steiner Sports) the day following Mariano's last plate appearance. Bob contacted the Yankees and was told Mariano used a Kevin Reese bat and the bat was not documented. They had no idea which Reese bat he used.

Arod and Giambi are known to use Jeter bats. Your reference was the first time I've been made aware of Rivera's fondness for Jeter's equipment. I'd like to have a copy of the photo you mentioned for my records. If you find it, please share.

Gamebats the actual photo/video i dont have i saw it a long time ago in passing so it was always something that stood out in my head.

As far as you saying AROD using Jeter bats. I would have to say that may be true but I know for a fact Arod does have a fondness of Posada bats and this was pointed out here before on the forum and you can find quite a few Getty photos showing AROD using a Posada bat.

Especially when AROD last year in mid season fell into a slump he started using a lot of Posadas equipment for good luck because Posada was doing well when AROD wasnt.

He was using Posadas bats and Wristbands

sorry for the delayed response. i cant reply at work anymore. anyway, i know that the bat i have was used in batting practice, but the loa from steiner says it is a game used bat and mariano signed it "2005 game used". as most of you know, this is common practice these days. arod does it all the time. that being said, i believe mariano used and cracked the bat in practice and it is a cool peice from a future hall of famer. the barrel shows nice ball and lace marks. there is NO tape on the handle.

My favorite Yankee items are Mariano Rivera's game used glove from the 2006 All Star game I got from Steiner and John Blanchard's 1961 World Series bat.

Mine would be the 2006 home jersey (from the home opening series) worn by Randy Johnson. After checking the game log, it appears it was worn (it was also photomatched to that game) in his 265th career victory. It also came with pants and a cap, all authenticated by Steiner. Other recent pick ups include a 2006 road Sheffield, 2006 home Mussina, a 1997 road Pettitte and a 2004 Kenny Lofton road. Hopefully I can get one or two more in the next couple weeks...

I'm technogically challenged. I'll see if I can get someone to help me post a picture of the glove.

I want items that show definite game use, so I am particularly pleased to have picked up in Steiner auctions:

                            1. A pair of Wade Boggs 1997 game worn home pants with plenty of dirt (and chewing tobacco ?) stains, and two team repairs.

                            2. A 2004 Kevin Brown "game de-worn" (it is missing all of the buttons and is ripped in a couple of places around the collar--something about his temper I imagine) road jersey that I can photomatch to several late regular season games, in the ALDS, and up to Game 3 of the ALCS (when he failed to get past the first couple of innings). I was the only bidder on this item and got it for the $150 reserve.

Unfortunately I do not own a digital camera and therefore have no way to post photos.

I rec'd a 2003 Clemens road jersey from their big spring auction and it's absolutely awesome. There's lots of wear and the tagging has been removed. Although I kind of wish the tagging was still intact, I was comforted by the thread involving his jerseys and the lack of tagging on jerseys that he pitches in. This one looks like it was worn for quite a few games!!

This is the second purchase I have made from Steiner (directly) and I have been very pleased on both occassions. The first, a 1997 Pettitte, was a little stressful. I had my wallet stolen and had to cancel the credit card that I used to register. After I won, I explained the situation to them and they were very understanding and patient. I will definitely do business with them again.

I picked up a Bob Wickman pinstripe gamer from '96 season in a Steiner clearance sale last summer, for $100, thanks to a heads up from you Larry. The jersey originally was selling for @ $400 . Never thought I'd ever get a Yankee pinstripe gamer. Very cool.
