Here is my key pickup for the month, no surprise... Tom Gordon rookie year baby blue road jersey. Though I am primarily a Mets collector, I always had a weakness for a classic 70s & 80s style jersey.

It looks like negro league throwback jerseys of James Loney (#7) and Matt Kemp (#27). Just curious, how much did these end at? Last I saw they were in the $1,200 range. I wanted to bid, but it was way out of my price range.
The jerseys set me back $2200 which was probably to much but i really wanted them. Besides a portion of the money went to charity so it was a win/win situation for everyone.
Thanks! This is one of the great things about the forum as we know what each other collect and try to help each other out. Though i'm not one to be bother if we all compete on a auction item i truly appreciate these type of gestures.
Regards
David
David,
Having grown up as a Yankee fan and hating the Mets as any good Yankee fan did back then, my interest was more in the uniqueness of that bat as a post season item. I'd much rather see it go to a Mets fan like yourself who will truly enjoy it.
Now, being in Richmond, Va. and following the Nats, I have a new reason to dislike the Mets! The NL East is going to get very, very interesting in the next few years! Go Nats!
Now I'm glad you didn't get the bat because it would have ended up in enemy territory
Part of the reason i collect what i do is because i live in NY and have this warped facination of bringing these pieces back "home" so to speak. It never ceases to amaze me to see how well traveled some of these game used items have become. For instance the Bordick bat was in Atlanta Georgia (prime enemy territory!).
Now if only I can get Kylehess to part with Kurt Abbott's GU 2000 bat barrel I can get that piece out of prime enemy territory too
As an aside I was glad to to see Washington DC get baseball again. In 2004 my family and I went to Montreal for vacation with the intention of seeing he Expos during their last year there. It was really a shame to see only 3-4,000 people at Olympic stadium knowing that the Expos were leaving the next year. I'm sure the Mets and Yankees will have sell out crowds all of 2008 the last year at Yankee and Shea stadiums.
It is great having a major league team so close. The Nats here lately are playing like their on a playoff mission, although I think that they may fall short.
Sam bat hammered with use, tons of pine tar with grass, ballmarks, seam marks and short taped handle that Manny can be seen using at bat lately. I think I may have a photo match on this one, will post pics later.

Here are my pick ups from the end of last season until today.......Enjoy!
