On November 14, the Boston Red Sox won the bidding rights to Matsuzaka with a bid of $51,111,111.11, outbidding the Texas Rangers, New York Mets and New York Yankees. Since then he has been nothing but spectacular, adjusting to American style baseball. In 2007, Dice-K won his major league debut on his way to an excellent two years with the Red Sox. Dice-K ended the 2008 regular baseball season with a 18-3 record, throwing 167.2 innings compiling 154 K's and a 2.90 ERA.
