Carl Yastrzemski 1980-83 Hillerich & Bradsby Professional Model Game Used and Autographed Bat

Carl Yastrzemski took over for baseball legend Ted Williams in the Red Sox line-up in 1961. In a very few seasons he became a major star and won baseball's Triple Crown in 1967 by leading the league in home runs (44), RBIs (121), and batting average (.326). He also led the Red Sox to the World Series that year and again in 1975. Yastrzemski retired in 1983 and was inducted into the National Baseball Hall of Fame in 1989. Yaz holds the Red Sox records for career RBIs, runs, hits, singles, doubles, total bases and games played, and is high on the list of fans' Fenway favorites.

This bat is a Carl Yastrzemski game-used professional model baseball bat manufactured by the Hillerich & Bradsby Company. It is a signature model with Yastrzemski's name stamped in script on the barrel as he had an endorsement contract with the company at the time of manufacture. This bat has what is commonly referred to as 1980-83 era labeling. However, it is specific to 1980 and 1981.

The Model Number D113 is evidenced on the barrel of this bat. The bat has a natural, or regular, finish. It measures 36 inches in length and currently weighs approximately 34 ounces. This bat is uncracked. A review of Carl Yastrzemski's personal Hillerich & Bradsby factory shipping records documents orders of 36-inch model D113 bats during this labeling period matching the dimensions of this bat; all were shipped to Yastrzemski between 4/16/80 and 3/18/81, which is consistent with the specific label period.

The number 8 is evident on the knob of this bat, written in vintage marker. Yastrzemski wore uniform number 8 during his career with the Boston Red Sox. This bat exhibits a significant number of game use characteristics, including a scored handle, light pine tar residue, hit marks, ball marks, rack marks, and slight grain separation. Yaz has signed this bat on the sweet spot as follows: "Carl Yastrzemski TC 67 HOF 89." The signature, in black Sharpie, is clear and unhurried, and measures a full four inches in length.

This is an outstanding bat from the final years of Yaz' Hall of Fame career. You can add this bat to your collection and never have to worry about upgrading again.View Lot Detail page
