Re: Here ya go A-Rod apologists!
....well hell,I'm a Jason Giambi fan so that pretty much says it all.I'm not a big fan of A-Rod,in fact,if he woulda left I wouldn't of minded. However, there hasn't been any proof he did anything and,if anything, his physique has hardly changed at all over the years unlike Pudge,Bonds,Mac,Giambi or Sosa.Doesn't mean he's done nothing, just means it hasn't been proved yet.
....Personally I'm tired of hearing about it already. The era was what it was,MLB certainly knew & didn't care when baseballs were flying outta the park at a record rate, attendance was way up after Mac & Sosa saved the game in '98, and they weren't catching any heat. And as for the government, they should be more worried about a resolution to Iraq than whether baseball players were doing illegal substances.
Oh,and Suave, come on man...you had to know Clemens was using something!Look at a pic of him in the 86 Series vs today. It's Bondsesque!!

Re: Here ya go A-Rod apologists!
cjclong just to add I am kicking myself as we speak for supporting Clemens as I personally thought this whole time he was clean. And it was a huge gulp to swallow to accept a Red Sox as a Yankee but I did and embraced him. I have always backed up Clemens since the rumors started on him a few years ago and with conviction. People said look at him he is so big of course he does roids or hgh, but if you look at him his whole career including in 86 he was never a small or skinny guy he was always a bit on the husly side.
Now I feel stupid because at this point I do believe he is guilty.

Re: Here ya go A-Rod apologists!
Suave, I think there are two different things here. You have the right to your opinion that ARod is overrated, doesn't hit in the clutch, etc. But that is a whole different thing from accusing him or any other player of drug use when at this point there is no credible evidence of it. I've never seen you accuse ARod of being a drug user. You and 3ARod13 could have a discussion about ARod's merits and I'm sure you would both disagree with each other to a great extent. However, the person who started this thread did it with the clear implication that ARod is a drug user. Right now there is no "evidence" that I am aware of besides some statements by Canseco that imply he has something on ARod that he didn't put in his first book. Just because there is a person we dislike that doesn't give us the right to accuse them of something without evidence. I'm sure you would dislike it if someone started accusing Posoda of drug use without any proof and the same goes for ARod.
I don't defend anything Arod does. Don't have too. Arod has to defend what Arod does. Not me.
I think Arod's work ethic, intensive play and performce (yes, not including the postseason) is what I like about Arod. Is he perfect? No. Are any of us perfect? No.
With that said, I'm done.

Re: Here ya go A-Rod apologists!
cjclong your absolutely right i agree with you, but as you said I never accused him of taking any drugs because I don't know the guy and don't know what he does after he leaves my house from dropping off game used equipment lol lol JUST KIDDING!!!
So my point was to have people discredit AROD & Slander, although it may not be right but it is to be expected since he is who he is and getting paid as much as he does for who he is suppose to be.
Thats all. No biggie.Leave a comment:

Re: Here ya go A-Rod apologists!
3arod13 look I know your a AROD fan but even as a fan you have to accept some ridicule about AROD, you can defend him as much as you want and say people rip him when its not warranted but no matter what when your the highest paid player by far especially for years to come. It is alway warranted. I am a Yankee fan and I can't stand AROD. Because of his salary he should have an above stellar year every year. I am not talking about a super star year, im talking about better then a superstar year andthing less is unacceptable. You can argue and say s hes human, not according to his salary. You can argue and say well it wasnt him it was his agent who demanding the money, well AROD in the end has to accept the amount and he did accept and I am sure he didn't put up much of a fight saying it was too much money I don't want it (as anyone else would). So with AROD accepting that amount he and his fans has to accept the responsibility that comes along with it.
As I have said publically before one of my biggest gripes with AROD was his 2006 season performance because we would have easily have taken the AL east with many games a head if it wasn't for AROD and instead we had to struggle to get a game or 2 ahead to take it and of course when we finally got there, his 250mm performance was no where to be found.
And this has what has got me to love Posada even more I think he is one of the most underated players on that team if not in baseball. He is extrmely hardworking and takes to heart every loss.
BIGGEST EXAMPLE everyone says how AROD carried the team last year but no one hardly mentions Posada. If you look at the stats Posada carried the team last year hands down. with a .380 BA up until the all star break thats almost unheard of in todays game and to finish out with a .338 BA & a higher on base percentage then AROD
Your statement "I can't stand Arod" says it all. Many feel that way about Arod, hence the hatred and continuous negative comments.
I'm just a baseball fan.Leave a comment:

3ARod13. you are one of those people who doesn't mindlessly defend a player you like or mindlessly attack a player you don't. Its one thing to say ARod has not been getting the big hits in playoffs for the Yankees, something even he acknowledges , and an entirely different thing to say he has used steroids when there is no proof whatsoever at this point. Canseco has been making remarks that insinuate he has something on him. If he has anything let him bring it out and we'll see what the FACTS are. Two major league players I like very much are Derek Jeter and Michael Young with the Rangers. I have no reason to believe either has used drugs. If there was proof that was credible that either had used drugs I would accept it and be disappointed. The fact that I don't think either has used drugs because there is no evidence of drug use by them doesn't mean I have "blinders on." The people with "blinders" are those who dislike a player so much they will accept and believe anything bad about them without a shred of proof because they dislike them so much.
I just don't see the point to accuse people of things, without facts.

Re: Here ya go A-Rod apologists!
maybe. maybe it's tall poppy syndrome. i think some may view it as comeuppance of sorts. they view the lives of these millionaire superstar athletes as "unjust" in the sense that they're grossly overpaid. watching them fall seems like justice for all the folks who break their backs to make in a month what these players make in 1 at-bat. class warfare of sorts. same reason people cheered when paris hilton and martha stewart went to jail. i think the general sports-watching public has long had a deep resentment of the insane salaries in sports and arod, being the $250MM man, is the epitome of insane salaries.
that said, i don't think most people set their sights on average players. arod's a target because he chose to become "the highest paid player in baseball". from the start, it was impossible to live up to the expectations of $250MM. boras helped only himself with that contract. arod could've accepted a lesser amount and escaped all of the pressures and expectations of being the $250MM man. that said, arod hasn't exactly had a smooth ride in ny, from his wife's "fu*k you" shirt to his ball slap in the '04 ALCS to his opting out debacle to publically carousing with a stripper. he doesn't make it easy on himself. at $250MM, people have some lofty expecations. due to the money and the hype, they'll hold him to fire on things that they'd give other players a free pass on. i don't think it's necessarily unfair though. afterall, if you want to be the $250MM man and be regarded as the best player in baseball, then you need carry yourself like the $250MM on and off the field. i don't recall folks wanting ripken or gwynn to fall. then again, i don't remember alicia gwynn telling jack murphy stadium to fu*k off or cal publically carousing with strippers.
rudy.but you did leave out one thing.
ARODS 2006 SEASON SLUMP FOR A 250MM PLAYER, OR HIS LESS THEN DECENT CLUTCH HITTING DURING THE WHOLE SEASON FOR A 250MM PLAYER OR ARODS NO WHERE TO BE FOUND PERFORMANCE IN THE POST SEASON FOR A 250MM

Re: Here ya go A-Rod apologists!
If Arod was found guilty of any wrongdoing, I wouldn't have anything to apologize for. Not once have I ever said Arod was clean. When many, including yourself, have accused Arod of wrongdoing, my only response was, "where are the facts? Where is the proof?"
I don't care about public opinion. I care only about facts. Nothing has been shown, other than individuals words, that Arod has done anything wrong. If and when this happens, then in no way would I defend it.
When Arod did the 60 minutes piece, he was asked by Katie Couric, "Did you use steriods or HGH?" Arod's immediate response was "NO!" She then asked, "did you ever think about using steriods or HGH? Arod thought about it, looked away, and then came back and said, "NO!"
my PERSONAL OPINION was, why look away and think about it? Why not respond NO immediately like he did after the first question?
So as you can see, my point is that even though I found Arod's hesitation after the second question odd, and may think he may be possibly quilty, it's only my opinion.
If the day ever comes that it's factually proven Arod did use steriods or HGH, I will be the first to come in this forum and say how disappointed I would be.

Re: Here ya go A-Rod apologists!
Arod must be dirty.
First, Canseco said it is so (well, not really but he implied it, but then his legit co-author from SI walked away from the sequel because Jose could not back up his non-accusation).
Now, John Rocker said it is so (and we know he doesn't carry any mental baggage).
All we need now is for OJ to swear to it and then we can fire-up the old electric chair for A-Rod!
Signed,
A Mets fan who has no stake in Arod being cleanLeave a comment:
