Re: OT: Show off your original sports artwork.
Generally, you see these as digital reprints of original artwork, pressed onto canvas. They appear as painting without actually being one.
My 1986 Mets piece that I posted on a pickups thread is an example of a Giclee:Leave a comment:

Re: OT: Show off your original sports artwork.
Looks like Bagwell is among his patrons. Don't know if I like the one of Bags, Biggio, and Cammy. The Caminiti part is great, but not necessarily sure if I like the Bagwell portion.
Just in the information-gathering stage right now. So - thank you very much for the details about Opie.

Les - Funny coincidence. I forgot that Opie lives in Houston and has painted Jeff Bagwell many times.
Here is his website: www.OpieArt.com
Opie has been the official artist of the World Series celebrations for several years now too.

Re: OT: Show off your original sports artwork.
I guess this counts as original art, right? It's the cartoon that appeared on the back of Carlton Fisk's 1973 Topps card.

This is one of my favorite art pieces I do not own it YET. But I have been seriously debating over it lol.

Re: OT: Show off your original sports artwork.
this one is different.
The most progressive painting from the World Series works was entitled Inside the Green Monster. It is a bolt-for-bolt replica of an inside panel of the Green Monster. From the front you peer in a lighted slot, just like the scorekeepers do a Fenway Park. In that slot is a painting from that viewpoint of a Red Sox night game versus the Yankees. The entire piece is lit from the inside. CoCo Crisp, the speedy centerfielder and World of Warcraft fanatic, loved the piece and purchased for his Los Angeles home. Interviews with a number of Boston media ensued including NESN during the broadcast of the game.Leave a comment:

Re: OT: Show off your original sports artwork.
One of the things about posting art work is that a picture doesn't do it justice.
Here is a painting I commissioned of the Washington Nationals titled "Father's Day Walk Off" The artist is Opie Otterstad who does amazing vintage paintings and sports celebration pieces. It measures about 40x30 inches and the picture I took is not great.

Here are a bunch of my originals on my art website.
This is a HR Derby piece on a mini-Homeplate by an artist named Charles Fazzino.

Re: OT: Show off your original sports artwork.
Great topic. I just had to show you some paintings done by a friend of mine, Graig Kreindler. I have seen alot of original sports artwork but his talent is second to none. The following pictures really don't do him justice as you should see them in person as the details just pop out. Graig really does alot of research to get every little detail right. I know right now he is booked about two years out but I will be commissioning him to do a piece for me real soon.
The Christy Mathewson is my favorite and blows me away.Leave a comment:

Re: OT: Show off your original sports artwork.
Here are two favorites of mine. The first(on the right) is by Lon Keller, and it's of Ollie Matson. Lon Keller was also famous for designing the NY Yankee's top hat logo.
Second up is a painting by an artist simply known as Craig. It's of Steve Largent, and was featured on the front cover of a 1982 Gaemday program.
