He is above every player on the Dodgers roster at this moment so what anyone else thinks about the situation is null and void because the Dodgers need him to do anything productive this season

This is what he chose to do and he obviously has a knack for it. We may not like him, but we cannot begrudge him the living that he makes.

Yeah, he has a "knack" for what he does, but I cannot stand his business ethics. If a player he represents is 18, fresh out of high school, he waxes sentimental about how he's the next A-Rod or Mays. How he's much better than that college guy who is 22, because he's a whooping four years younger than him. And think of his 20 years of MLB success.

Now, if he's representing a college kid, he'll boast about how much closer to the Bigs his kid is because he's so much more polished than the 18-year-old who is out of high school, and will take a few years to mature into a talent. But this college guy is a proven commodity! So - Boras will say. He's so much better than that 18-year-old, and he'll be ready for MLB action in 2010.

He is just a manipulative, sweet-talking salesman who is only after his big, fat wallet. I wish there were no place in the world for such sophistry. But sadly, those who manipulate owners and GMs have quite a home in baseball today. I have no respect for Scott Boras, and I never will.

Now that statement makes a lot more sense than your original one. I wasn't arguing with the merits of Scott Boris. I just didn't agree on how it was presented that the only way he can make money is to get rich off his clients. Profiting off your clients is how the world works. That is what Business is all about. Personally I think the guy represents a huge problem in baseball, but hat being said, if I was a player I would want to get every last dollar I could, and he seems to be the guy to go to. There in lies the rub.

What I have a problem with is the two-faced sophistry that passes for negotiation that Boras represents. Fair market value is one thing. It's just the absurd figures of Boras that I have a problem with.

That's so true. The last thing in life I have ever wanted to be is a lawyer. There are a few professions that are lower, but I'd risk suspension discussing them. Never thought too much of lawyers.

People may not agree with his tactics, but at the end of the day he's representing some of the best players in the game and signing them up for big money.

I don't think it matters whom he is representing. The bottom line is that he comes upon his money in this life in an unethical manner - that is, bytalking out of both sides of his mouth.

At the end of the day, every man has to face himself in the mirror. And I wouldn't be able to look myself in the mirror every morning if I made money using Boras's modus operandi.

Most of them are eithwer lawyers or former ball players. I have a friend that's an agent that needed a job after his arm gave out.


As far as other players being resentful towards Manny because he doesn't go to Spring Training...it seems to me like most of the players on the Dodgers are coming out and saying he was a great addition to the clubhouse. If I can recall correctly, I don't believe he has played much during ST in the past so it's not like it's something new. I think once the A-Roid things settles down and Boras can concentrate solely on Manny, something will get done.

On another note did anyone notice Orlando Hudson is a Dodger now? It's going to be a good season.
