Well, you guys have me scared! I am attending the San Francisco show for only ones reason . . . Willies Mays! He is one of two living HOFers I need on my HOF bats that my father and I started in 1988 when I was 10 years old. What started with Willie Stargell in 1988 has turned into 76 autographs on 2 bats. I am terrified now to take a bat I have over $3500 invested in.

    Thanks,

The last show Willie Mays did in NYC was the Shea tribute show in Sept. 2008 which of course coincided with his appearance at the Shea closing ceremony.

            Thanks,
            Hey CHRIS!

It was nice meeting you at the show. After you got Willie to autograph your bat, my wife told me that you were on the GUU forum too, and that you were "Chris, eGameUsed". I'm happy to see that Willie signed your bat so nicely, too.

We lucked out, he was in a great mood, really friendly to everyone. That was the third time my wife and I had met him, and by FAR he was in the best mood this time. He looked good too. Usually he's ornery, crabby, not very accomodating, but he was jovial and super nice this time. GOD, am I glad I chose to drive up and make the attempt to get my holy grail inscribed....but I have to be selfish and start another thread on that.

Good luck with your continued HOF bat collection,

            Regards,

            Steve (& Sandra)

I have always heard about how nasty he was too, but i actually had a positive experience, at least getting an autograph. About 4-5 years ago he was here in Dallas/Fort Worth being honored at a legends dinner. He really seemed out of it, didnt say much, but he signed autographs for anyone that went up to him for free. It was a black sharpie for all items, still looks good on my baseball. Like i said he wasnt talkative, but he was willing to sign for free. Pic is from a cell phone so it is pretty grainy
