Re: Dodgers Break 90 Year Old Record!!
Just back from the game....
We have a NEW MODERN ERA RECORD in MLB folks....(since 1900)
13 straight victories at home to start a season by my DODGERS!!!!!
Broke the record of the Detroit Tigers, with Sam Crawford and Ty Cobb, of 1911 with 12.
Once again, they have a mediocre game, and score 10 RUNS.....with a properly placed extra hit or two, maybe just ONE home run (they had none for the game), the Dodgers could've easily scored 20. This team is scarey, but I don't want to jinx the early success. Hope they go all the way to the 21 game reacord of ALL time (posted by treant985).
I'll be hanging on to my ticket stub for quite awhile.Leave a comment:

Re: Dodgers Break 90 Year Old Record!!
If we count the first 24 years of Major League Baseball, the Dodgers are actually chasing (who'd have guessed) the Chicago Cubs' record; of course, they were known as the White Stockings back then...
Longest winning streak at home, beginning of season
21: Chicago White Stockings (Cubs), 1880.
18: Detroit Wolverines, 1886.
16: St. Louis Maroons, 1884.
14: Chicago White Stockings (Cubs), 1885.
12: New York Gothams (SF Giants), 1884.
12: Detroit Tigers, 1911.
12: Los Angeles Dodgers, 2009.Leave a comment:

By the way gang,
NOW the Dodgers have TIED AN 98-YEAR OLD RECORD with their win last night...
They tied the 1911 Detroit Tigers....who had none other than Ty Cobb on the roster.....with the most victories at home to start off any season in MLB history....
By the way.....that guy named Cobb? He hit a mere .420 that season.
Just AWESOME. Tonight they go for the record outright. GO DODGERS!!!!Leave a comment:

Re: Dodgers Break 90 Year Old Record!!
Did you SEE the two great plays Orlando made last night???
Basically, he slammed the door on any possible rally the Diamondbacks were mounting......with two feet-leaving dives to make inning killing catches. I didn't see Sports Center last night, or this morning, but I'm sure BOTH plays were on/in the top ten.....maybe combined to be the #1 of the day?
Anybody see them?Leave a comment:

If the Dodgers can break a sport record of over 90 years, maybe there's hope for my Cubbies and their 101-year title drought.
Yeah, and maybe Barack Obama and Rush Limbaugh will become best friends forever.

I meant we got their autographs. Ironically the most difficult famous Dodger to get to sign is Lasorda, although he seems to have little to do except sit around looking like Lasorda. About two-thirds of spring-training games, he refuses to sign for anyone; and then only for women and children when he does sign.Leave a comment:

Re: Dodgers Break 90 Year Old Record!!
The Dodgers were great with fans when they trained at Vero Beach. Last year, only two weeks before they moved to Arizona, my wife and I got numerous dodgers, including Torre, Ethier, Martin, and others; and they were all friendly.Leave a comment:

Re: Dodgers Break 90 Year Old Record!!
Orlando Hudson was one of the steals of free agency. If all he does is his usual thing and bats around .300 he's a good pickup. If he keeps things up he's a all-star.
Guys like that are the difference between a good team and a great team.Leave a comment:
