Today marks the 27th anniversary of the first game of Cal Ripken Jr.'s 2632 consecutive game streak. Cal went hitless vs. Jim Gott and the Toronto Blue Jays that Sunday afternoon at Memorial Stadium and amazingly didn't miss another game for over 16 years....

amazing. i wonder what the longest streak for each position? i think some position are more prone to injury and wear and tear. shortstops has to be one of the most demanding positions so that is what makes it so amazing.
