Re: Anyone hear from Helen (cordovacollector) lately?
I agree with everyone's sentiments. This is indeed a very sad turn of events. You could tell from her posts that she was a very passionate collector and fan.
Does anyone know how to get in touch with Marty Cordova? I think it would be nice if he knew that his biggest fan passed away. Maybe he would be interested in donating something to help the family out if they need it.

Re: Anyone hear from Helen (cordovacollector) lately?
I had a bad feeling after not hearing from her for a while.
She was always full of life in our emails, and it was an honor to be able to correspond with someone so passionate about life.
If Wades idea about auctioning off her game used items doesn't work out, maybe we could hold an auction of our own, maybe some of us can send in an autographed item or game used item, and than have it in her honor, than send the proceeds to her family or donate it to a charity?

Re: Anyone hear from Helen (cordovacollector) lately?
My girlfriends aunt recently passed away from ovarian cancer and this thread got me thinking...
a lot of medical bills pile up and a lot of financial issues finally get resolved because they have to be and a lot of new expense get introduced. Anyways, perhaps GUU could hold an auction of her game used items (if there are no plans for them in her will) and give all the proceeds to her estate/family to help with the expenses that come with the passing of a loved one. Its just an idea...this entire thread kinda has me down a bit...and I was just trying to figure out a way that I/we could help if she did actually pass away.Leave a comment:

Terribly sad news. While I emailed with Helen only a few times, she was a great person will ceratinly be missed. She had a great passion for many things (baseball, the Twins, life) and I will miss the passion and enthusiasm she brought to the board.Leave a comment:

This was my favorite post of Helen's, from this year's D-Day thread...

I know the feeling. Anytime I stand and see the Colors march in - be it a parade or a ballgame - I fight to hold the tears back and wonder if I am the only one.
As a permanent remembrance since the day Dad died, when I stand for the National Anthem, I make it a point every single time to look at the flag and remember him.
The greatest treasure I own is a flag that flew on LST 351 when he served that is tattered and full of shrapnel holes.Leave a comment:

Re: Anyone hear from Helen (cordovacollector) lately?
Last time she emailed me, was on Aug 17th., at which she told me she has been "laid low on chemo". Then I emailed her Sept 23rd and never heard anything back.
And yes, she is from Blue Earth.
Was one of the most pleasant people I've talked to. She put a smile on your face just reading a message from her. A super positive person.Leave a comment:

Really nice woman and a heckuva Twins fan. I only was in touch with her a short time, but I'll miss her as much as I will some of my decade-long friends.

It appears we have lost a very wonderful person who happened to be a community member here. Althought I didn't know her, my gut tells me she was a wonderful person. Life is short. Reading such sad news places all the other silly stuff here in very clear perspective.
God bless you Helen, I hope you are with your father again right now.

Re: Anyone hear from Helen (cordovacollector) lately?
Hey guys, bad news.
http://www.gameuseduniverse.com/vb_f...ad.php?t=25643
In a post, she said she graduated high school in 1971, so 56 is the likely age.
Did someone say she was from Blue Earth?
