Whatupyos, actually there was a Mark McGwire Game Used Batting Praqctice Jacket on ebay about 2 months or so ago. If memory serves me correct it ended at about $500.

My holy grail item is a "collection" of signed baseballs; one from each of the 1986 World Series Champion Mets, all inscribed with interesting info from the '86 season or the series (Ray Knight's would have 'series MVP' on it, Dykstra's would contain the GW HR in game 3 of the NLCS, etc.)

If you're talking about 1 item, I would settle for a game worn 1985 St. Patrick's Day jersey from a star NY Met... talk about a rare collectible... to be honest, I haver NEVER to this day seen one surface on the market.

My grail would be any photo-matched Matt Williams item - helmet, jersey, bat or spikes - from the 2001 World Series.

This is a great thread because a person's grail is something that should make collecting fun. That is the reason I got back into collecting, for the pure and simple fun of it. With what went down today, it reminds me that there are people in this hobby that might not be so great and just looking to make money, but that will not keep me from pursuing something that I love.

When I was 7 at my first ball game I saw McGwire hit a HR against the Yankees. I saw many after that at The Bronx and at Shea. From the time I was 7 up until last August my Holy grail was a McGwire HR Bat with provenience. Photomatched Bats are nice, but something with 100% legitimacy is what Im proud to say I own.

21 years of dreaming came true on August 5,2010.

panthroc that bat is insane! I grew up and still live in NY and attend bronx games myself and remember watching mguire in that green uni swing a monster home run against the yanks. I was 8 years old! at the same game most likely (don't think he homerd in the rest of series) it was 1994. Atleast my first game was IDK when you saw him. Got his rookie card in fleer pack a week later!!!! then wen he hit those home runs and shattered record holding his son over homeplate I sold it for a pretty penny. Then burned all my Mcwire stuff after I found this in his locker
