Just got this email from the local sports siging promoter:

Rod Carew will not be Appearing at the September 25 Show
at North Phoenix Baptist Church
Remember your Mom telling you if you don't have Something Good to say About Someone say Nothing at all - Well we have Nothing Good to Say about Rod Carew

Sounds like a story behind this cancellation.

They did arrange for Johnny Bench to sign, however.
