I like Diaz, but Francoeur is what you see. He is a great guy, but I think his "superstar" days are long gone. He really works hard and is a supposedly a great teammate, but if he doesn't change something in his approach and swing he won't be starting much.

7 years is about 3 years too much
I think he is "werth" 18M per if it was a 3 or 4 year deal. He can play.

I think whoever signs Lee will be making more of a boneheaded move actually.

I was hoping the Phillies would have signed Diaz or Francouer - those are "Werth type" players waiting to happen imo.

No not Jayson, but I think the Nats are desperate for talent so they can have a winning record and to Show that they are trying to better the team. That will hopefully, for them but fans in the stands. I don't really think Jayson was the wise investment though.

    Can anyone say....

    OVER-RATED!

He will be to the Nats as AJ Burnett is with the Yanks!

the nats are mimicking the old rangers and dodgers. hand out big contracts like candy and watch them implode usually to boras clients. the rangers had chan ho park and kevin millwood and arod. the dodgers had drefoit, kevin brown and sheffield. the common theme was these deals benefitted noone but the players and their agents.

A GREAT deal........for Jason Werth- way to cash in.
What are the Nats thinking?????? Overpaying for a 32 year old outfielder who had a couple good years hitting in a great lineup/ballpark. His numbers wont get better as he gets older. The $ given to him should only be given to stars in entering their prime or established players who project to improve . It should be a treat seeing him in the OF in 3-4 years also... Stupid is as stupid does...

A lot of cash for a one time all star in his early 30's!

He is 32 years old as of early next season with a spotty history except for the past two years in a lineup of mostly allstars in a hitters park. This is the single worst contract in baseball history. They now have an albatross on their payroll. The question is will this cost them Zimmerman in the future when they cant pay him comparably to his inferior teammate. It is great that they are trying to make a splash but just tossing money at people solves nothing. I am a Mets fan and this is something they would do, the have money lets buy anything way to run a team. The Mets did it last year with Jason Bay and look how well it worked for them.

    They should have kept Dunn.

Seems "OUT OF CONTROL" spending is the norm for the Washington area. Whether it's our Federal Government, the Redskins (McNabb) or the Nationals (Werth) they just keep spending it.
