    RIP:Joe Perry

Joe "the Jet" Perry, a 16-year RB in the AAFC and NFL, died today at age 84.

Perry began his career in the defunct All-American Football Conference in 1948, stayed with the team when they were absorbed into the NFL in 1950, and, in total, played 14 of his 16 seasons in San Francisco, concluding with an encore in 1963. He was with the Colts in 1961-62.

Perry was the NFL's all-time rusher until being surpassed by Jim Brown, was the first running back (1953-54) to post consecutive 1,000-yard rushing seasons, and was enshrined in Canton in 1969.
