    Don Mincher RIP (1938-2012)

Don Mincher, a 12 year major league player (most notably with Minnesota) and a two time All Star passed away yesterday after a long illness.

Mincher was 12-year major leaguer and served as president of Huntsville Stars, then as president of Southern League.

    RIP Don

    RIP Don
I was at a White Sox/A's game in Chicago in what I think was 1970 with my father when Mincher launched a then rare rooftop home run down the line in right field. I remember saying that he had homered on the roof to my dad and the people around us, only to have one and all assure me that wasn't the case and I didn't know what I was talking about (at the time, I was just short of being 12, and, in my family, kids were always wrong, as far as the adults were concerned).
