Re: modify extra points?
I don't think they'd do a 3pt "extra point" from 35yd line, thats pretty much a chip shot for these guys.
I still like the idea of moving the kick way back or doing a normal 2pt try.
All I know, is that the commercial break between the TD, then XP, then another commercial break, then kickoff, then another commercial break........the 10 minutes of commercials to watch an XP aren't worth it

Re: modify extra points?
Interesting discussion topic. I can envision a number of possibilities/scenarios with the following 'extra point' options. Retain the 1- (kick) and 2-point (run/pass) conversion options and 'add' an additional 3-point option (kick, run or pass) from farther out/back, e.g., 35 yard line.Leave a comment:

Re: modify extra points?
They should stop with the extra point attempts and just make it 7 points for a touchdown.
Leave the field goal attempts for 3 points.Leave a comment:

Re: modify extra points?
Well all the articles and reports yesterday said making it a 42yd field goal attempt. Definitely not automatic, but still one that is hit probably 85% of the time weather/wind conditions not being a factor. I like the idea. Long extra point, or a regular 2pt conversion. I will say, it would make sports betting very interesting for awhile. Most people make judgements as a TD being an automatic 7pts and the lines are usually set like that with 3, 7, 10, 13, 14, 17, 20, etc. being the big movers.Leave a comment:

modify extra points?
I'm curious what others think of the NFL's proposals to modify the extra-point kick. I think only a half-dozen or so kicks were missed last season. Moving the kicking line back to 25 yards might not be much of a change, as field goals are getting increasingly routine.Tags: None
